A second generation woodcarver, Michael completed a 10-year woodcarving apprenticeship under his father who was a Master Woodcarver. He earned his Masters title in 1987. After pondering what area to specialize in, Michael decided to concentrate on the one subject he loved most: DOGS! In 1987 Michael opened his own carving studio where he carves among the company of his four dogs and a team of craftspeople to create beautiful renditions of countless AKC approved breeds. His versatility in a variety of woods including basswood and mahogany allows his carvings to be intergraded into a beautiful and useable art form. Each Walking Stick and Hiking Staff is hand-crafted one at a time. Michael's custom hand-carved renditions of customer's pets often bring tears of recognition to their eyes. With painstaking care and detail, the finished products have a charm all their own. Each one is hand painted and finished, making it a one-of-a-kind collectible.
